Gordon Jay Chan

About me

I'm from the Bay Area and work as a QA engineer at Veeva Systems in Pleasanton, CA. I graduated summa cum laude from Santa Clara University in June 2024 with a B.S. in Commerce in Management Information Systems. I also coach the Shotokan Karate team at SCU.

Outside of work I play upright bass, both classical and jazz, and I sing. In university, I sang with the SCU Chamber Singers and played in the orchestra, and I've sung the national anthem at SF Giants and Golden State Warriors games.

19 years on the mat

I'm a shodan (first-degree black belt) in Hayashi-ha Shitō-ryū, and I've also trained in Shotokan for the last six years. These days I coach the Shotokan Karate team at SCU, and I build things for the karate world, like websites for two dojos and a kata data analysis site.
